Transdev to make X99 two hourly evenings and Sundays

East Keswick Parish Council is objecting to plans by Transdev to make the main village bus service two hourly on evenings and Sundays from the end of October.

It’s a year since they took over the service from First Group and suggesting the only difference would be red buses not green. However since that date they proposed curtailing the service to Leeds Central Bus Station (which was successfully objected to) and now plan a major change.

The Parish Council has been asking for a meeting with WYCA (which oversees bus services as Metro) and the operator Transdev. We were objecting to the poor reliability of the service and the curtailment of the last bus from Wetherby. Previously timed at 2328 it’s now 2210 and about to go to 2208. Transdev claim they suffer dead milege in returning a bus empty from Leeds to Starbeck at near midnight but Firstbus used to return theirs from Wetherby without problem.

The planned change will also see minor route revisions in Leeds centre omitting Byrom Street, North Street and The Headrow. The main change will be that every alternate bus on evenings and Sundays will run via the A58 as an X98 service.

The only evening buses from the village to Leeds would be at 1843, 2022 and 2222. Buses would leave Leeds City Square for the village at 1830 2005 2205 and 2305
