Methodist Church
East Keswick Methodist Church was built in 1891 “To The Glory of God” and in memory of Joseph Laurence whose academy trained young men for the Methodist Ministry to work all over the world, preaching in many countries, notably Newfoundland. The church has its own dedicated website www.ekmc.org.uk.
Facilities
Following a major re-development of the premises in 2003 we are now able to provide modern up to date facilities for a variety of events and occasions.
The Church has seating for 150 with full access for those with disabilities.. A public address and “loop” system for the hard of hearing is provided in the sanctuary. To aid worship we have available Singing the Faith, the Methodist Worship Book, Songs of Fellowship, the Good News Bible and the provision for Holy Communion.
Our meeting room is an ideal venue for a variety of functions including children’s birthday parties, meetings, dance and exercise groups, special celebrations, community groups and much more. It is located at the rear of the Church and is an ‘L’ shaped, carpeted room that can accommodate up to 50 people (40 seated). We also have a well-equipped kitchen and modern cloakroom facilities.
From the meeting room, there is direct access to a patio and secure garden and these areas can also be used when weather permits. If required, the room can be divided into two areas by an acoustic-resistant screen. There is a Smart TV and BT Openreach broadband availability throughout the premises.
The whole of the rear of the premises is covered by a “loop” system for those with hearing difficulties. The meeting room, kitchen and toilets are covered by a modern fire alarm system.
There is car-parking provision in the grounds for 7 vehicles, including a specially designated area adjacent to the access ramp for those with disabilities.
