Transdev to give up bus service

Current operators of the X99 have given notice they intend to give up the bus service from the end of August. Transdev trading as the Harrogate Bus Company have been operating the service having taken it over from First Leeds a few years ago. Transdev say the rote is causing too many problems for them especially as its some distance from their Harrogate base.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority – also known as Metro – say they intend to find a new operator for the service and have issued tenders. They claim to already have had interested enquiries.

The Parish Council and ward councillors intend to keep pressure up on Metro to ensure a new operator is found and that timetables stay the same or similar from September onwards.
