June Gallant remembered

Next time you’re passing the Duke of Wellington Inn, cast your eye opposite to the bus lay-by and the entrance to Keswick Marsh. Close to that point you’ll see a new memorial bench. It’s been organised by the Parish Council and largely paid for by the family of June Gallant who died this year.

The wording on it reads “In loving and affectionate memory of June Gallant (1934-2023) who worked tirelessly for the village as Clerk to East Keswick Parish Council for 34 years.

It’s quite fitting that the bench is positioned at the southern end of the village where the road heads out towards Bardsey as East Keswick resident June was also Clerk to Bardsey Parish Council for many years too.
