Obituary – John Reeman

East Keswick lost a popular and much liked villager last week when John Reeman passed away. His illness was nothing to do with Coronavirus.

Born in 1941, John spent most of his working life in the press. He worked for the Shropshire Star, part of the West Midlands Express and Star Group before joining the Daily Mail as its Wolverhampton based Distribution Manager.

In the late 70s he moved to Wetherby and then to the village in 1987. He was a keen active sportsman whose love was Hockey. He was a lifetime supporter of Wolves FC and with strong opinions on Manchester United.

John was a village activist, supported local events, distributed the village newsletter  and was interested in local and world history. He was an outdoor person with a passion for walking and bird watching, a hobby that took him all over the UK and as far as the Falkland Islands. He was a regular Bridge player at Wetherby and could be found most weeks playing dominoes in the Old Star’s league team.

He was a regular at the Old Star and one of those people who loved living in our village and contributing to its social life. He will be missed.
