Job vacancy for a paid Parish Council Clerk

East Keswick Parish Council is seeking to recruit a new Parish Clerk for when June Gallant steps down next Spring after 34 years.

The role involves being Clerk to the Council and its Responsible Financial Officer, attending monthly Parish Council meetings to take minutes and then follow up actionable points with suppliers, council departments, ward councillors, contractors and villagers and liasing with the seven (presently six) Parish Councillors.

The post is part time, 6 hours per week, working mainly from home. The hours of work are generally flexible except for attendance at meetings. Salary in accordance with National Joint Council recommendations; pay scale to be approved dependent upon qualifications and experience.

The ideal applicant will be well organised, meticulous with a painstaking attention to detail, able work on their own initiative with the minimum of supervision and IT literate. Duties will include: General administration; managing finances and accounts, managing suppliers; compiling and publishing agendas; minute taking; managing correspondence; advising the Council to ensure compliance with legislation and adopted policies; implementation of the decisions of the Council; Training in all aspects of local government administration, leading to CiLCA qualification will be provided if required.
