Controversial Pump House planning decision
An application to replace a redundant pump house off Keswick Lane with a detached house has been passed by Leeds Plans Panel.
The site lies just south of Keswick Beck and is therefore in Bardsey parish. Both Bardsey Parish Council and East Keswick Parish Council objected to the application but Leeds City Council Planning Department recommended it for approval as it was technically a ‘brownfield’ site meaning it previously had industrial use.
The two parish councils got the issue referred to the Plans Panel, a body of Leeds councillors which oversees controversial applications and can reject them. However despite being addressed by the Deputy Chairman of Bardsey PC and the Chairman of East Keswick PC, the Plans Panel voted narrowly – by one vote – to approve the application.
