Village footpaths resurfaced

Major improvement work has now been completed on the most used village footpath. The path between Church Drive and Main Street/School Lane junction has been reopened after a four day closure which saw bordering foliage cut back, a tree removed, and tons of crushed limestone added to provide a dry stable surface in place of a deeply muddy and often impassable one.

The cost of the footpath improvement was met by a generous grant given by the Emmerdale Stakeholder Fund, set up to support neighbouring parishes of the site of ITV’s popular networked drama series whose village location was rebuilt in land owned by Harewood House.

The Main Street to Church Lane footpath continues from St Mary’s Garth to Moor Lane and a stretch of that portion has seen resurfacing too. The Parish Council were anxious to get the work completed before the Spring and before wildlife returned to the hedgerows.
