Developer announces revised plan for Church Drive site.

The planning company engaged by the developer of the contentious Church Drive site opposite the turning circle has announced a revised plan which was communicated to the Parish Council in time for its April meeting.

Villagers will recall that this site was sold by Leeds North West Housing, an arms length social housing organisation, as it was deemed surplus to their requirements and a possible small development site. Leeds City Council gave outline planning permission for it to have two detached bungalows. The buyer submitted a plan for four detached houses which was opposed by neighbours and the Parish Council as being over use of the site. A further submission for three dwellings was opposed for similar reasons. The developers claim to have taken these objections into consideration when drawing up current plans which would see a pair of semi detached houses and a separate detached dwelling.

The independent inspector who turned down the previous plan on appeal nevertheless accepted the principle of housing on the site and felt two storey homes were appropriate. At their April meeting the Parish Council decided to object again, reminding planners of the original approval for only two dwellings on the site whilst acknowledging that the new plans did mitigate some previous concerns.
