Plans to replace bungalow with house turned down
An application to demolish Green Row, a bungalow on Whitegate, with a house, have been turned down by Leeds City Council.
Following three letters of objection from neighbours and concerns of East Keswick Parish Council, the application was refused. Concerns raised were that the proposed house would be over-dominant and might be overbearing and oversized for the plot, that it would not enhance the conservation area, would be harmful to the streetscene and its mass would be out of proportion. It was accused of being too far forward in the plot and failing to draw upon architectural features in the village with roofing materials not in keeping with the local vernacular.
Planners are believed to be not against replacing Green Row with a different building, but were against the scale of the proposal before them.
