Village gets ready for Tour de Yorkshire party
There will be a carnival type atmosphere in the village for Saturday 30th April.
A ‘Welcome to East Keswick’ banner is in place and bunting will adorn Main Street. Both pubs are planning bouncy castles and BBQs and the village is getting ready to party.
The womens race is expected through at approx 0850. the caravan procession at approx 1255 an the mens race at 1450.
Roads may be closed and bus services affected an hour either side of the above times
The Old Star will be open from 8.30am for teas and coffees ready for the womens race passing through. Alcohol will not be available until official hours but then there will be food, bouncy castles and fun all day long.
The Duke of Wellington will be having similar fun. There will be full English breakfasts served from 8.3am, a lunchtime hog roast, a special menu and BBQ food. Both pubs make ideal vantage points to watch the cyclists and the events.
Villagers are asked not to put bins out that day but the following day, Sunday. Roads will be closed around race times and some scheduled bus services around these times will be delayed. no parking will be allowed from 0001 Saturday on Lumby Lane and Main Street. Offending vehicles may be towed.
