Packed playground for Grand Reopening

Amended 20 June

The Play Area at Carr Green was packed with delighted children and parents today for the grand reopening of its facilities following an impressive thirty thousand pounds of fundraising.

At 3pm the Chairman of the Parish Council Gaynor Anning cut the ribbon to officially mark the playground as open. Present and past Parish Councillors Becky Bailey, Andrew Batty, Roy Gibbs, Peter Lord, John Priestley and Dan Warren were there together with Leeds ward councillors Ann Castle and Matthew Robinson, the Vicar, scores of children and parents. Everyone enjoyed a bbq, charity cake stall, face painting, balloon moulding, a children’s entertainer and, of course, the play facilities. The church was opened up for toilet facilities and the tennis club courts for children’s tennis.

The playground now caters for under twelves and is open 8am to dusk.

The playground is owned by East Keswick Parish Council and the fundraising has been handled by a very successful and enthusiastic sub committee of village mums
