Bridge open for Christmas
North Yorkshire County Council has reinterated its belief that the Wood Hall Bridge connecting the village with Sicklinghall across the River Wharfe will reopen in time for Christmas as reported in August on this website.
The bridge was badly damaged by flood debris and closed for safety reasons two years ago. Ever since then East Keswick Parish Council has lobbied relentlessly for its reinstatement and repair. The cost is well into six figures and the work is currently put out to tender by NYCC with a pre-Christmas completion date.
The opportunity for a Boxing Day walk to the Scotts Arms will be welcomed by many.
