Parish Councillor to stand down next Spring
Further to our report that Councillor Roy Gibbs was resigning from the Parish Council with effect from August we can now report that he has agreed to stay in place until Parish Council elections in May 2015. Roy said he was sad to be leaving the parish Council but this was due to his family’s relocation to Sickinghall. Fellow councillors said he would be missed, especially for his substantial and informed input into planning issues.
Any villager wishing to stand for the Parish Council should contact the Parish Clerk, June Gallant. If there are no more than seven candidates next May (including present councillors who wish to remain) then the seven would be approved without election. If there are more than seven candidates for the seven places than an election will take place, which would be on the same day as the local authority elections.
