Village Meet and Treasure Hunt – make a note of the date
Make a note of the day – Sunday 22nd September – and keep it free. The first day of Autumn will be marked in East Keswick by a special community event at East Keswick Village Hall, provisionally planned to run from 11am to 4pm.
The centrepiece will be a public exhibition on the East Keswick Neighbourhood Plan, as well as food, real ale, a village treasure hunt and childrens’ activities. Full details will be announced nearer to the date.
Neighbourhood Plans are an initiative made possible by The Localism Act 2011 which empowered community groups such as Parish Councils to establish general planning policies for the development and use of land in a neighbourhood. East Keswick has a Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, separate to but created by the Parish Council to take the views of the community and, ultimately, to produce a document which will be put to referendum vote locallly and – if supported by a majority – will carry legal weight.
The event on Sunday 22nd September will be an opportunity to contribute to these ideas and give your views on the way you wish the village to look and feel in the decades ahead. You can also learn more about the group, attend meetings and contribute online to its activities by following its present progress on a separate section of this website.
