Wildlife Trust secures £20,000 grant

The village Wildlife Trust has been successful in acquiring a £20000 grant towards the cost of buying Coopers Woodland as part of its Living Landscape project. The grant, from Caird Barden who distribute landfill tax revenues to charitable bodies and worthy causes, will enable the Trust to buy the next piece of land after Elliker Fields to the east of the village.

These projects not only add a new nature area to the east but begin to create a new buffer zone and potential walk from The Paddock to Frank Shires Quarry and the War Memorial.

The village is almost unique in having its own charitable Wildlife Trust which owns and/or manages large tracts of local land for the benefit of the community.
