Whitegate parking worrying residents
People who live on Whitegate are getting increasingly concerned about parking on the narrow road which forms the main route out of the village to the north. They claim non-Whitegate residents are parking their cars on the road which then creates a solid line of parked cars reducing the road to a single width. Some drivers are said to be racing past the parked cars to reach a wider section of road and buses are said to be having problems. The road is used by buses twice and hour, more often in peak hours.
The issue has been raised with Police and the Parish Council. Double yellow lines would be a last resort but the Parish Council is appealing to residents to exercise more care and avoid parking on the road. Some residents have claimed that their drives are being obstructed and exit onto the road was being made difficult. The Police have said they will issue tickets for obstruction if necessary.
