Travellers Rest back on the market

The former Travellers Rest pub restaurant is back on the market after plans to turn the building into a children’s nursery have fallen through.

The pub was the oldest pub in the village, though its location outside the village on the A659 Collingham to Harewood road was also its downfall. Without many homes in walking distance it failed to maintain its drink custom and was turned into a restaurant with various incarnations before being bought by a building company’s pension fund which planned to change its use to offices. This plan fell through when the company went into liquidation and the last plans emerged for it to become a nursery.

The Travellers Rest has commanding views of the Wharfe Valley and would make an ideal location for a restaurant drawing upon a strong catchment area and having ample car parking.
