Diamond Jubilee Festival in East Keswick and Bardsey

A whole weekend of festivities is planned to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. For some months, a joint committee of East Keswick and Bardsey residents have been had at work and have now announced the weekend line up.

Events begin on Friday 1st June with a ‘It’s a knockout’ family fun event and picnic taking place at Bardsey School. All weekend there will be the Bardsey Village Scarecrow Trail (further details and application forms available from Linda Flockton 01937 574553) and a Flower Festival at All Hallows Church.

On Saturday 2nd June, there will be a WI Coffee Morning at Callister Hall from 10am. At the same time Bowling and Tennis will be offered at the respective Bardsey clubs. At 11am there will be Bardsey King and Queen Maypole Dancing at Bardsey School. Celebrations move to All Hallows Church at 12 for a BBQ and Family Fun Activities. On Saturday night there will be a fancy dress dance at Bardsey Village Hall. The theme is ‘Best of British’ and tickets are available from Alex Hook on 0113 289 2689.

Sunday 3rd June sees activities switch to East Keswick with a Village Hall Garden Party in the afternoon followed by a Mini Beer Festival and Family Disco from 7.30pm. Tickets are available at East Keswick Post Office and Setchfield Butchers on Main Street.

On Bank Holiday Monday there will be a Gala and Fun Day at Bardsey Sports Club and the weekend events conclude with a Evening Cheese and Wine Evening at Hillbank Bardsey on Tuesday 5th June from 5pm. Tickets are available from Jeremy Earnshaw on 01937 574877
