Collingham land grab rebuffed

Plans by Collingham to take over some land on the border with East Keswick would be refused by the village if asked, according to East Keswick's Parish Council.

Over the summer, some inter-council meetings had raised the subject of borders between villages and there was suspicion that Collingham might apply to extend its border to take over houses which, althoughh on the periphery of Collingham, are in East Keswick's parish boundary.

Some East Keswick villagers had thought this might lead to increased council tax for the rest of the village if a number of contributors were lost to the area.
