Yellow lines in village defeated

Plans to add no waiting signs and yellow lines round the bus layby opposite the Duke of Wellington have been stopped after intervention from the Parish Council.

Villagers had been bemused by two poles erected at each end of the layby. Enquiries by the Parish Council revealed that Leeds Highways had erected them and planned to put no waiting signs on them and put yellow lines through the layby. Parish Councillors expressed concern that this was out of keeping with a rural village that had no parking problem in a layby which, in any event, was barely used once an hour by service buses.

Leeds Highways have now agreed to halt plans and to remove the poles shortly
