Parish Council elections – vacancy

There is to be at least one vacancy on the Parish Council when the four yearly election comes up in May. Long standing member Sylvia Pinkney has decided to not to seek re-election.

It's not clear yet if all the other members were seeking re-election. If the other six did seek re-election, and one more perosn came forward to fill the vacancy then voting wouldnt take place the election would be uncontested. However, if there were eight or more people seeking the seven places then an election would take place in early May alongside the local government elections.

The procedure to put your name forward for election is this: Nomination papers should be collected from the Chairman, John Priestley from the middle of March and returned to the Elections Office in Leeds between March 29th and noon on April 4th ( a day earlier than previously mentioned)

Should you wish to observe a Parish Council meeting before the election, you would be most welcome to watch, but not participate. Full details of dates etc are on the Parish Council tab to this website.
