Brown bins – huge mess up infuriates Parish Council
The saga of the bin mess-ups shows no sign of abating. In the latest scenario, a senior officer at Leeds City Council asked the Parish Council to let villagers know through the website and any other means that they would not be emptying the brown bins as scheduled on Jan 24th and they wouldnt be emptied until the next scheduled collection on Feb 21st
Then on Monday 31st January, a truck arrived unannounced to empty all the vilage brown bins.
A council spokeswoman had told us 'All brown bin collections were suspended in December to free up resources to help with missed collections due to the poor weather at the beginning of December and extra waste over the festive season. Unfortunately we will not be returning to East Keswick for missed brown bin collections as we do not have the resources to provide such a service. Please take your brown bin back onto your property and put it out on the next scheduled collection day. I appreciate this is disappointing news but be patient while we bed in the new collection routes'.
