Star’s smoking shelter to move in beer garden plans

The controversial smoking shelter near the side entrance of The Old Star is to move. The shelter caused some villagers to complain to the Parish Council about the unattractiveness of the structure on the side of a listed building in a conservation area which contravened planning rules. As a result, the tenant Mark Abrams has confirmed he has plans to resite the structure as part of a plan to improve the exterior of the inn with a beer garden to be created at the back of the pub. Work is to begin in mid August and take approximately three weeks.
