New grant win – Village Hall to offer wifi and IT training

The Village Hall has been successful in attracting an 'O2 – it's your community award'. This exciting project will involve the completion of community computer facilities at the Village Hall, wi-fi internet access throughout the building, and IT training for interested villagers.

In recent times, three computers were donated to the village by BT and software donated by Microsoft. The latest grant allows other equipment to be bought to complete the facility of a dedicated IT suite planned into the Village Hall's refurbishment.

The facilities will enable all user groups (which range from children groups such as guides to retirement and hobby groups) to improve their IT skills and use IT to their organisation's benefit. It will also enable IT training to be offered such as community courses for IT beginners and those wishing to advance their skills. Clubs such as the Local History Group will find the faciliteis invaluable for storing and archiving data.

Wifi internet access will allow any enabled laptop to access the internet from the hall which is expected to be a significant aid to Parish Council and other committee meetings whilst its prescence will make the hall more attractive to business lettings.

It is hoped the improved facilities will be ready by July. Please watch this website for news on the launch and courses as they are announced.
