Road Works On Schedule – First shuttle bus retimed for Leeds connection
United Utilities report they are on schedule having laid 150m of the 470m new pipework required. The road works seem to be working quite smoothly and staff have been enabling a through route to operate some evenings. Saturday working has been brought in on two recent weekends to keep progress to schedule.
Bus services have also worked quite well, though following comments received, the first shuutle bus of the day has been brought forward four minutes to 0710 enabling a connection to be kept with the X98 Leeds service at Collingham as this departure runs earlier than subsequent ones.
A major accident which blocked the A61 between Leeds and Harewood caused big traffic jams throughout the area recently. Traffic was diverted onto Wike Lane and would have normally gone through East Keswick to Crabtree Lane and the A659 but the road closure caused diverted traffic to head for Bardsey Bank Top. Over three miles of traffic queued for Bardsey Bank Top traffic lights at one stage. To reduce the problem, road works through the village were suspended until late morning.
