Village commemorates the retirement of the Wards

Delivering the doorstep milk diligently for over 28 years has made Dick and Eliizabeth Ward well known figures in the vilage and the Parish Council couldn't let their retirement pass by without providing the opportunity for the community to publicly thank them. On Sunday 19th October sixty or so villagers gathered to raise a glass (of something more potent than semi-skimmed) to the Wards. The Chairman of the Parish Council, John Priestley, spoke of their contribution to village life, their vigilance in the hours of darkness, and the high esteem in which they held. On behalf of the village he presented them with a framed caricature as a momemto.
