Parish Council votes to safeguard red phone box

At September's parish council meeting, councillors agreed to safeguard the village's iconic red phone box if it ever became under threat. Recent changes in regulations allow parish councils to 'adopt' red phone boxes if they are in danger of being withdrawn. The village phone box, close to the white railings, does not feature on any current list of phone boxes to be axed, but should it ever be threatened then councillors are determined it ought to be adopted by the village so it remains part of the village street scene.

Although mobile phones have dramatically reduced demand for call box use, signals in the village are not strong on every network and so the phone box is still reasonably well used.
