Duke of Wellington owners seek new tenant
12 June 17
One of the village's two pubs - the Duke of Wellington - has closed down and is now on the market for a new tenant again. A notice on the pub door states 'With much regret and after weeks of soul searching, I've decided to close the Duke with immediate effect. The negative impact that the hours of a pub trader have had on both my health and my family have left me no other option. Thanks to all for your support over the last 18 month period - Zoe.
The Duke of Wellington is the village pub with a restaurant trade as well as a drink trade. Over the past decade it has had a number of managers and formats with varying success. There were high hopes when Zoe took over the business that her local knowledge would contribute to making her management of the inn very successful but personal health issues adversely impacted those plans.
Our website story came as a surprise to Enterprise Inns, the pub company owner. Two days later their Regional Manager told us they were anxious to reopen the pub with new management as soon as possible and the pub was already being featured on their website.Described as an eye-catching pub with an interior refurbished in 2015 it's being promoted at a guide rent of £32k and potential turnover of £390k. Potential investors are invited to attend a viewing on July 11th.
