The Duke of Wellington Inn is to reopen at the end of September or start of October. A spokesperson for Enterprise Inns told the East Keswick Website that an 'excellent new publican' had been recruited and the pub would be reopening after minor works had been completed.

He went on to say that the new landlord currently resides in the village and therefore understands its needs and those of the community very well and consequently the company was very upbeat about its future.

The Duke has been closed since mid June when the previous venture ended. That saw the pub's dining room transformed into 'The Cork and Claw' a seafood themed restaurant which was intended to the be the second of several but closed after only four months.

The Duke has had nearly as many landlords as years over the past decade and villagers will be hoping that the latest reincarnation will succeed. We'll bring you more news about the reopening as soon as we have it.
