Parish Councillor to step down
Councillor Janet Thornton has announced that she intends to step down form the Parish Council this Spring anfter more than twelve years. Three times re-elected Janet told the last Parish Council meeting that pressure of other commitments was the reason behind her decision. Janet has been an active participant of the Parish Council and let a number of initiatives, not least the successful entry in the Daily Telegraph and Calor Village of the Year competitions.
When a Parish Coucil vanacy occurs between elections, the remaining Councillors have the authority to co-opt an interested resident onto the council who would then stand for potential re-election at the next scheduled elections. Any villager who might be interested in putting their name forward is urged to make their interest known to June Gallant, Parish Clerk. Villagers are always welcome to watch any meeting though participation is limited to the first ten minutes.
East Keswick Parish Council meets monthly, usually on the third Tuesday. Its seven members are unpaid. You can read more about the council on the Parish Council tab to this website.
