Rural bus service secure for at least two years
The 923 bus service, which connects the village with Tadcaster and Otley is secure until October 2011 following a decision by the two authorities which subsidise the route: Metro and North Yorkshire County Council.
The service began very much as an experiment, running four days a week between Otley and Wetherby via Wike, not East Keswick. It now runs six days a week and was extended to Tadcaster some time ago. It used to run along Moor Lane though the route in the village was changed to Cleavesty Lane. The route is operated by minibuses supplied by Utopia Coaches. It runs every day except Sunday at a frequency of every 90 minutes. Buses travelling up Main Street continue to Harewood, Arthington, Pool and Otley terminating at Waitrose Supermarket. Buses travelling down Main Street go to Bardsey Church, The Congreaves, Wetherby, Boston Spa and Tadcaster.
