Sun shines on a glorious village gala
A scorching June afternoon, a busy line up of activities and crowds of people added up to a hugely successful East Keswick Gala on Saturday 13th June.
The biannual event (scheduled to complement the biannual Bardsey Gala) began at 3pm with an afternoon of family themed attractions before changing tempo at 6pm into a sell-out BBQ with live music.
Real ale and afternoon teas were part of the attraction which also included childrens races, bungee-rides, gymnastic and ATC displays, baby ballet, painting competitions and craft events. The theme chosen was the 40th anniversary of the first moon landings.
Evening party goers were treated to three bands. First on was the popular village based 'Evans Boys'. Next up was a newcomer band from the village, the Brixton Rowers with Adam Waterfield. This was followed by a lively and hugely entertaining 1hr 50min set by 'Cargo'.
The gala successfully catered for all age ranges including the 14-21 year olds who are often the most difficult to provide for. It was another outstanding community success gaining several hundred pounds profit for Village Hall funds.
